The big weekend was finally upon us and the action wasn’t limited to the games on Sunday. Saturday represented the final chance for the coaches and players to get together for final inserts and last minute preparations. Among the great “pregame” features of this year’s OPC was not only the great coaching, but also the mentoring involved. After a long day of on field practice time, this year’s group of all-stars were treated to a series of talks given by some well known CFL players. Discussing their own experiences, several CFL’s gave tomorrow’s potential stars an idea of the road ahead for some and some pretty solid advice, coming from first hand experience.

Canadafootballchat.com’s Lee Barette kicked things off, Barette who has extensive CIS coaching and playing experience talked about the importance of off field factors and spoke about the whole process the players had just been through. Speakers included ex-Acadia Axemen/ex-Ti-Cat QB Larry Jusdanis, Current Argo and ex-Mac Maurauder Chris Van Zeyl, ex-Stanford Cardinal, San Francisco 49er and current Ti-Cat Brian Bulcke, RedBlacks Jason Pottinger and Saskatchewan’s Spencer Moore.

The last day proved to be a big hit, the general consensus was how much the athletes learned both on and off the field. The only thing left now was to play the games.

Check in over the next few days for game recaps, player interviews, impact players and more from the inaugural ONTARO PROSPECT CHALLENGE.
