Derek Boulay started playing football eight years ago in Grade 2.

The safety/corner also competed in last year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge where he made the Top 100.

This is Derek’s first year playing high school football with the Gananoque Trojans, where they are playing a 6-on-6 version.

To stay in shape during the offseason the Trojan continues to play football with friends. He also does cross-country running and curling.

Derek’s goals for the OPC are “to increase my skill level and hopefully make top 40 this year.”

Moreover, his football idol is Brandon Banks of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“I appreciate that even though he is one of the smallest players he is still very good,” added Derek.

The Trojan loves football because he likes being active, and enjoys tackling and running.

“Football is also a mental game and I am good at reading plays,” commented Derek.
