Tom Tefoglou started playing football in high school with the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils as a defensive tackle, and continues to play for them now.

From there, he went on to play for the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) summer league with the Oakville Titans, where he served as a team captain.

“My goal in the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to show my ability to rush, make a quick play and tackle the call carrier to show my dominance,” said Tom.

“I would also like to achieve school offers for college, hopefully,” added the Red Devil.

As a 2017 graduate, being on any football list is a goal because he is new to his position and it is all about the love of the game.

During the offseason, he is a part of the Sport Specific Training (SST) program.

He attends SST three times a week, and each day focuses on a different body part, including small daily runs.

Just recently, the Red Devil has also added high school rugby to his offseason.

In football Tom has many role models, but the only famous ones are the Buffalo Bills defensive line.

The defensive tackle says 80 per cent of his inspiration comes from his coaches.

Coach Pearson and Weldon first got me into football; Coach Ken inspired him, as well as Coach Valley and Coach D’Alesio for always having the time to chat about opportunities.

Moreover, his biggest inspiration is Coach Ryan Stevens, who was his first line coach.

“He loved to push me to my limit,” added Tom.

He also looks up to every person on his high school team because they all worked really hard to get their well-deserved championship.

He loves the game of football because it is one of the few sports where you get to throw yourself at another human being.

“I love the contact, the plays, the practices, games and putting the pads on,” commented the Red Devil.

Overall, his favourite thing is the team bonding. This past Red Devil season, the team would rent out a section of a restaurant almost every Wednesday for a wing night.

“Things like this and many more just made us work as a unit better,” explained Tom. “Hence why we won the championship this year.”
