Adam Guillemette started playing the sport when he was in the sixth grade playing in the Cambridge Spring Football League.

After gaining a basic knowledge of the sport, he started playing in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) the summer before Grade 7 with the Cambridge Lions.

The linebacker has been playing for the Lions for approximately four years now and just completed his first year at the junior varsity level in July.

This past August, Adam got the opportunity to play for Canada Prep Raiders.

ā€œThis experience will forever change my view of football and where I need to be to become the football player I want to be,ā€ said Adam, who also plays as long snapper. Ā ā€œI feel playing varsity football in the United States in my sophomore year has allowed me to enhance my skills, strength and game speed more than I couldā€™ve anywhere else.”

ā€œI continue to try to perfect my long snapping game and my all around football skills and knowledge.ā€

During the offseason, he works with his coaches to improve his strength, along with speed, balance, coordination and other things.

He is very proud to be involved in a program that allows him to take advantage of the opportunities of working with ex-NFL/CFL players.

In this year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge, Adam wants to achieve a few major objectives.

ā€œMy goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) are to showcase my skills, and to also gain valuable knowledge from the coaches that I have the chance to practice with,ā€ commented Adam.

The Lions’ standout’s role model is Curtis Grant, former middle linebacker at Ohio State.

ā€œI idolize him because he is the type of player I want to be, fast strong and aggressive,ā€ explained the linebacker.

Adam loves to play the sport because it is a mix of skill, speed and strength.

ā€œIt allows me to compete at a high level but also have fun,ā€ continued the linebacker. ā€œAnd I love that I can earn a chance to study at the best universities through football.ā€

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
