Connor Ridenour started playing the sport with the Beckwith Irish at the age of nine as an outside linebacker. The team went undefeated and won the championship.

This past spring, he played for Beckwith as a running back and the team went 5-2, losing in the championship game.

During the season he had 11 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards rushing.

This fall he played in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) for the first time with the tyke Kanata Knights as both running back and cornerback. The team went 9-2, losing in the championship.

During the season, he scored a touchdown on offense, as well as one on defence on a fumble return.

ā€œFootball is my favourite sport to play,ā€ said Connor.

When he was young, the Knights standout would go to college football games with his dad, as well as watch them on TV and play fantasy football with him. Now that he has played the sport himself, he knows that it is his favourite.

As for this upcoming Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), Connor would like to achieve a few key objectives.

ā€œMy goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) are to make the team, learn more about football, help the team win the games we play and do my best,ā€ explained the cornerback.

During the offseason, Connor takes time to read about the sport and learn new things about it. He also participates in school extracurricular activities, like track, soccer and basketball, to keep in shape.

On the field, his favourite player is Connor Shaw, a backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

ā€œI grew up watching him play college at the University of South Carolina,ā€ commented the Knights standout. ā€œHe is a great leader and a great passer and runner.”

“Also, he has the same name as I do!ā€

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
