Ontario lineman commits to NCAA’s MARSHALL THUNDERING HERD (VIDEO)

While it has been a busy few months, Patric Minuti is thrilled with the end result.

Last week, the 6’4 ½, 295 pound offensive lineman from Richmond Hill, Ontario officially committed to NCAA Division 1 FBS team, University of Marshall Thundering Herd for the 2014 season.

The Marshall journey began for Minuti this past December.

“The offer from Marshall came after my season probably around the beginning of December,” recalled the Ontario offensive lineman.  “I was ecstatic as Marshall has a great football program and there is so much history at the school which hooked me right away.”

Despite talking to several NCAA Division 1 AA schools (FCS) as well as Division 1’s Ball State Cardinals, he knew that the Thundering Herd is where he wanted to continue his gridiron career.  Ultimately, Minuti’s Marshall journey reached its peak last week when at the tail end of his official visit to the campus, he accepted the offer from the Thundering Herd.

“I knew right away that Marshall was the place for me,” expressed Minuti, who plays offensive guard and tackle positions.  “I went on my visit March the 24th to the 26th and I just loved the atmosphere with the tight knit community and the brotherhood of the Marshall football team.”

“I love the coaches and players and I’m happy to say that I’ll be playing there for the next four years.”

Minuti recently completed a stint with the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.  At the academy, he played alongside seven other Canadians.  Previous to IMG, the offensive lineman played for the Villanova College Knights of the Conference Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) as well as the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
