ONT (Niagara): Thunder upset CFC#34 Gators

Last Wednesday,  Blessed Trinity Thunder upset defending  Golden Horseshoe Champions and CFC#34 Lakeshore Gators by a score of 17-16 in Niagara football action.

With a field full of mud, and rain making things worse, the Thunder stuck to their run game and took a 10-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Austin Whetton would start the quarter off with a 50 yard running touchdown to put the Thunder up 14-7.

The Thunder took control of the Gator offense with an interception at their own 40 yard line, mid-way through the quarter.

The team would add a field goal and conceded a safety in the game.

“Our team is starting to believe. “ said Thunder Head Coach Joseph Pagnotta.  “The team has stepped up and played another solid 48 minutes of football.”

“We just need to continue to get better.”

This marks the second straight win for the Thunder, who got off to an 0-3 start. Now 2-3, the Thunder look to head into the playoffs with a .500 record.

“Our team has a good shot and finishing the regular season at 3-3 if we play like have the past two weeks,” said Pagnotta.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
