ONT (Guelph District 10) Week 3: A lopsided affair

Week 3 of Guelph District 10 football separated the contenders from the pretenders as all the lowest margin of victory was 31 points.

The GCVI Gaels visited a surprising 2-0 Orangeville Bears team last Thursday, sending the Bears a wake-up call in the process. Although Orangeville got out of the gate winning two in a row (after never recording a win in program history) the wins were against the winless Centennial Spartans and Bishop Mac Celtics. The Gaels dominated the game from the beginning, crushing their opponents 66-0.

Centennial played host to the Ross Royals on Friday and suffered a 41-7 loss. Ross’s running backs accounted for five touchdowns with Will Rannachan scored three times and Octavian Radulescu found the end zone twice. With the win, Ross now sits atop the standings with a 3-0 record.

Also on Friday, the 0-2 Bishop Mac Celtics played host to the 0-2 Lourdes Crusaders. After losing admirably in their first two games against tough opponents, the Crusaders  took care of business, winning 34-3. Noel Amaya accounted for 16 of the Crusaders points.

Week4 has only two games on the schedule with Bishop Mac visiting Ross at 3pm on Thursday the 10th. Meanwhile GCVI and St. James will play under the lights of Alumni field at the University of Guelph beginning later that day at 7pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
