ONT (Guelph District 10) Week 2: Offensive production & happy times in Orangeville

In Week 2 of Guelph District 10 action,  there was a dramatic increase in scoring and a wonderful story developing in Orangeville.

In a marquee matchup, Ross Royals hosted the Lourdes Crusaders in their home opener.  The Crusaders came out strong and jumped out to 12-0 lead in the second quarter with pivot Noel Amaya  accounting for all of the team’s points. However, the Royal  found a way to execute their game plan in the second half, scoring 19 unanswered points and Royals running back Khalil Smith scored the decisive touchdown late in the fourth to clinch the game. The Royals won 19-12 over the Cruasders.

Elsewhere Bishop Mac visited Orangeville for the team’s home opener. Coming off an emotional 1-0 overtime win, Orangeville improved to 2-0 on the year – the only two wins in the teams history. It was a high scoring affair with Orangeville winning 38-28.

St. James opened up against Centennial in the week’s most lopsided affair of the week as the Lions were victorious 20-0.

Centennial is now without a point in two games and face a tough match up hosting the 2-0 Ross Royals on Friday the 4th. Also on Friday Bishop Mac will host Lourdes, and the Orangeville Bears will attempt to reach 3-0 as GCVI travels into Orangeville.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
