Aylmer defensive tackle joins newest kids on the CIS block.

One OUA school has everything that one recruit was looking for in order to success at the next gridiron and academic level.

Dan Omara is the most recent player to commit to the Carleton Ravens for the 2014 OUA season after being heavily courted by many CIS schools.

“I had the majority of the OUA schools looking at me, with the likes of Ottawa, Guelph, McMaster, Queens, Windsor and York as well as schools from the AUS and the RSEQ conference,” explained Omara. “But after a lot of thought I chose Carleton.”

“I felt at home there and I liked the school and the facilities are amazing. I met a lot of great players and coaches. Also, they have great training programs.”

The 6’6 1’2, 308 pound defensive tackle from Aylmer, Quebec recently completed a stint for the Ottawa Sooners of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) Previous to the Sooners, he played high school football with Immaculata Saints of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) and also suited up for the Cumberland Panthers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“Dan is a big athletic player with a huge upside,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah on the commitment.  “We are excited to work with him and watch him develop.”
