OL Staples is very adaptable

Versatility is a huge part of playing offensive line. Every position knows their role and thrives on working as a unit to succeed in every aspect of football. Eamon Staples on the U18 Nova Scotia Team knows wherever his club needs him on the offensive line he can do his part. The 6-foot, 255-pound swiss army knife loves playing either centre, guard or tackle, depending on where his coaching staff feels he is best suited.

Staples has been through some setbacks already in his football career. Two seasons ago he tore his ACL and had to sit out the entire year, but that didn’t hold him back. He stayed interested in football by coaching the O-Line for the Truro Freightliners Bantam team who ended up winning the Championship.

“It was good to see all of the work I had done to prepare the players through the season come together, and being able to coach that year while I was injured with a torn ACL.” Eamon said proudly.

Staples hopes to play University football in the fall of 2018 and really enjoys the process of being noticed and getting scouted, “It’s just a lot of fun talking to different schools and hearing about what they have to offer. At the same time you have to make sure to not look so much into football and see what they have to offer academically as well.”

When also asked about being a freshman in a new system. Eamon recognized, “I have to just take every opportunity I get and make the most of it, it’s all you can ask of yourself. If you put the work in, you won’t have any “what if’s” in the end.”

He thanks his parents and his coaches for his focus and says they are the reasons he is such a versatile athlete,” They continue to allow me to excel at football and take every chance I get.”

Eamon Staples has already had an unofficial visit with St.FX and says he would love to stay close to home for the next level of his football career.
