Brock Gutowski began playing football with the St.James Rods (Manitoba Major Football League). From there, Brock moved on to his local high school team, the Sturgeon Heights Huskies (Winnipeg High School Football League).
The first year Brock started playing football he was a defensive tackle and won Rookie of the Year. For the next three seasons, Brock was moved to offensive line and won the Best Offensive Lineman award three years in a row.
In his freshman season, Brock started on the varsity team as a center and won team Offensive Rookie of the Year, and was also nominated for league Rookie of the Year. Brock started as an offensive guard in his sophomore season and won team Offensive Lineman of the Year. This year, Gutowski earned a starting spot on the Team Manitoba U18 team.
Brock hasnβt made any decisions about his football future, he mentioned, βI am comfortable leaving home but it would be nice to stay home and play in front of my family and friends.β
Head coach of the Sturgeon Height Huskies Eric Vincent has had an influence towards his star lineman, Brock explained, βMy head coach has played a big role in the player and person I am today.β
Gutowski also looks up to retired Baltimore Raven, Ray Lewis. βHis dedication to the game combined with his intensity and leadership influenced me to stay with footballβ added Brock.
In university Brock would like to get a degree in kinesiology and become a physiotherapist.
When heβs not on the gridiron, Brock enjoys wrestling, and he has earned a silver medal at the provincial level.
Brock has had a handful of schools that are interested in him and heβs been enjoying recruiting. βThe recruitment process has been good, I have gotten contacted by Ottawa, McMaster, McGill, University of Manitoba, and St Francis Xavier,β added Gutowski.
There havenβt been any recent plans to visit colleges. Brock is going to visit colleges next year.
