New Mountie

Halifax defensive back recently joins AUS Conference Champions’ 2014 class.

Geoff Zed will be moving to Sackville, New Brunswick in the coming months.

Recently, the 5’11, 185 pound defensive back (halfback) from Halifax, Nova Scotia committed to the AUS Conference Champions, Mount Allison Mounties.  Zed will join the team for the 2014 AUS season.

“I wanted to get the best possible education while staying in the Maritimes and Mount Allison is known for being the top undergraduate program in the country so the choice was obvious,” explained Zed of his decision.  “Another key factor was when I went up for a tour of the campus, the school was getting ready to host the Uteck Bowl and it was awesome to see the town’s excitement around the football team.”

Zed comes to the Mounties after completing his high school career with the Citadel Phoenix of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL).  During his time there, he led the team to two consecutive Provincial Tier 1 Championship titles (2011, 2012).  This past season, the defensive back was selected as a Nova Division First Team All-Star at the defensive back position.

In addition to the Phoenix, Zed has suited up for the Halifax Raiders, Halifax Chargers as well as the Halifax Seahawks of the Nova Scotia Varsity Football League (NSVFL).
