NCAA Signing Day 2018: Thibault heads to the Ivy League with a chance to make history at Columbia University

CFC100 Xavier Thibault (Williston Northampton, MA)
Sometimes you get a great on field experience and that’s about all at university, but for Xavier Thibault he’ll be getting a real taste of the student-athlete lifestyle after signing with Columbia University who’s a member of the Ivy League.

Thibault began his high school career playing for top ranked CFC50 Seminaire-Saint-Francois in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, but he decided in his grade 11 year to head south to attend prep school at Williston Northampton. He was named RSEQ Defensive Linemen of the year during his final season in Quebec – so everybody knew he was good – but he took his game to the next level popping off for 7 sacks, 44 tackles and a fumble recovery during his first season in Massachusetts.

His play led to more recognition and he started attending multiple camps in the offseason including rival Ivy League schools Harvard, Yale, Brown and Princeton, but eventually it was the New York school that won the Thibault sweepstakes. He won’t be alone in the Ivy League however with CFC100 Tola Banjoko signing on the dotted line to continue to football and academic career at Princeton, so it’ll be fun to watch those two go to work on opposite sides during some heated games in the next four years.

Thibault will be joining a surging program fresh off an 8-2 campaign in search of their first Ivy League title since 1961.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
