NCAA Signing Day 2018: Sunny days ahead for Dumais after signing with Fresno State

CFC100 Alex Dumais (St. Paul, CA)
It seemed like everyone in California wanted to get a piece of Alex Dumais, but after all the recruiting madness he finally settled on signing with the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Dumais originally played for Dalbe-Viau in Quebec before heading west to attend St. Paul, and after putting together a dominant year with 62 total tackles and 14 sacks in just 12 games he earned a spot on the CFC10 All-Canadian Team.  Throughout the season he took visits at multiple big-time schools including USC, UCLA, Hawaii and San Diego State with the storylines becoming one of the more intriguing battles that developed, but in the end Bulldogs’ Head Coach, Jeff Tedford got his man.

There are a few notable Canadian connections with Tedford being chief among them after spending his playing career in the CFL and most recently coaching the B.C Lions before he headed back to the Golden State. He spent the majority of his time coaching at the University of California where he groomed the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Marshawn Lynch and DeSean Jackson, and now he’s trying to turn around a struggling program who went 1-11 before he arrived.

So far, so good with the Bulldogs going 10-4 with a 7-1 record in the Mountain West under the guidance of Tedford in 2017, and now Dumais will look to be another piece of the puzzle that can take them over the edge. He’ll also have the benefit of learning under Defensive Coordinator, Orlondo Steinauer who spent six years coaching in the CFL and was a five time league all-star with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
