NCAA Early Signing Day: Sydney Brown preparing to call the Big 10 home after signing with the Fighting Illini

CFC100 DB Sydney Brown (St. Stephenā€™s, FL)
Thereā€™s been a lot of talk surrounding where CFC100 Sydney Brown would eventually end up with multiple NCAA offers on the board, but all the conversations can now be laid to rest after Brown decided to officially sign his letter of intent to play for the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Big 10.

Brown began his career north of the border in London, Ontario before heading to St. Stephen`s Episcopal in Florida to pursuit more avenues for recognition, and the decision paid off with Brown helping St. Stephenā€™s to a Florida State Title this season with his play at defensive back, receiver and returner on special teams. Generally twins come as package deals, but after CFC100 Chase Brown announced his intention to play at Western Michigan without any word from Sydney, it became clear they had a different route in mind once the offers starting rolling in. His uncanny abilities on the field which includes a 4.48 40 time led to offers from Central Michigan, Tulane, McNeese State and South Dakota, but ultimately Illinois and the Big 10 were where Brown felt he needed to be.

The Illini are coming off a 2-10 season with an 0-9 conference record, but the program is led by former Chicago Bears Head Coach, Lovie Smith, which must be alluring for a young defensive back looking to take his game to the next level.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
