Mount Allison lands local recruit

Sackville lineman becomes first recruit to join AUS team’s 2015 class.

The Mount Allison Mounties have announced the signing of a local recruit.

Ross McCormack is the first recruit to join the AUS team’s 2015 class. The 6’2, 260 pound lineman is from Sackville New Brunswick.

“Ross is a strong kid who has really dedicated himself in the weight room at a young age,” commented Mounties Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey.  “With his experiences in the provincial program and now at Tantramar High School, he has developed quickly.”
“He has great technique and a very good football IQ for someone his age. He will be a great fit into our offensive system.”

McCormack is just completed his senior season with the Tantramar Titans of the New Brunswick High School Football League (NBHSFL). Throughout his career, the standout has played various positions on both sides of the ball.  On offense, McCormack has played at left tackle, left guard, right guard, right tackle, center and long snapper. Defensively, he has been a tackle and a middle linebacker.

“Mount Allison has been actively recruiting me since grade 10 when I made the provincial team in 2013,” recalled McCormack. “I have a great deal of respect for the Mount Allison coaching staff.”

“When I signed, the players on the team had been very welcoming which made me more excited for my future at Mount Allison. It was critically important to choose the university that I felt was the best fit for me as a student and as an athlete. I found the Mount Allison coaching staff’s honesty, integrity, coupled with their knowledge and teaching ability to be the right fit for me.”
