Mills (CFC ‘top QB’) commits to hometown team; Huskies coach Sumarah happy

Jesse Mills, CFC “top QB”, has decided to stay at home and fight for the starting QB position with the Saint Mary’s Huskies.

Jesse is excited and when CFC asked why this was the best choice for him he said:

“It is close to home, close to my family, and i want my parents to see me play since they have been supporting me throughout my career. And it is a good situation to go into as well. Coach Sumarah and I have been in contact since grade 11 and its just the perfect fit”.

Jesse has been playing QB for 8 years and led his high school team to a perfect record, provincial championship, and CFC top 25 #5 ranking. The 6’4″ 225 pound Mills threw for 286 yards and 2 TDs in the final game versus the Sir John A Flames.

Jesse enters a great situation because St. Mary’s only has one QB on the roster (Mack Blewett). Huskie starting QB Micah Brown has appealed to the CIS but judging on the rulings from this year his chance of getting another year of eligibility seems bleak.

Coach Sumarah is extremely happy with the signing. “We have been recruiting Jesse for a couple years now and know that he can help our program. Signing him now allows us to focus on the other parts of this recruiting class that we need to bring in. We need more game breakers, more speed.”

Jesse led Team Nova Scotia to an upset win over Alberta in the first round of this summers Football Canada Cup.
