McMaster to visit Laval for pre-season game

HAMILTON – The McMaster University football team will play a pre-season game against perennial Vanier Cup favourites, Laval University on August 29, 2010 at PEPS Stadium in Quebec City, Quebec.

The trip will be excellent preparation for the Marauders as they look to move up in the OUA standings in 2010.
McMaster football fall training camp will open on Monday, August 23 and the team will leave for Quebec City after practice on Friday, August 27. The teams will have an integrated practice on Saturday, August 28, enabling Marauder players and staff to work with their Laval counterparts as both teams prepare for conference play.
ā€œThis is an excellent opportunity for our players to experience something different and to see how one of the most successful programs in Canada runs training camp,ā€ said McMaster Coach Stefan Ptaszek. ā€œWeā€™ve had pre-season scrimmages before, but playing a team like Laval should be great preparation heading into OUA play.ā€
The trip to Quebec will wrap up with a pre-season game on Sunday, August 29 at PEPS Stadium, which will again host the Vanier Cup on November 27, 2010.
The Marauders will return to Hamilton after the game to resume training camp in preparation for their OUA home opener versus the always tough Laurier Golden Hawks. The season opener is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Labour Day Monday, September 6, at Ron Joyce Stadium.
