McMaster ‘best fit’ for BC recruit

North Vancouver defensive back signs with OUA team.

Lucas Bill will be leaving the West Coast to begin his CIS career.

Recently, the 5’11, 185 pound defensive back from North Vancouver, British Columbia signed with McMaster Marauders.  Bill will join the Yates Cup Champions for the 2015 OUA season.

Since being introduced to the Marauders this past summer, Bill knew it was the perfect place for him.

“I participated in McMaster’s high school camp last summer and I became very interested in the school and the football program,” recalled the defensive back.  “When I went back for my visit in January, I knew it was the best fit for me.”

“My decision was mainly academic and Mac’s reputable kinesiology program was a big selling feature.”

Moreover, the strength of the football program, the coaching staff and opportunity to play for a contender provided Bill the incentive to commit to the OUA team.

“Coach [Stefan] Ptaszek and his coaching staff really made me feel comfortable with the decision,” added Bill.  “With a number of veteran defensive backs graduating there will be a good opportunity for me to compete early.”

“Coming off a one point loss in the Vanier means a hungry team and I am excited to help this group get back to the Vanier Cup.”

Previously, Bill has played for the Carson Graham Eagles of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).  This past season, he racked up 1100 all-purpose yards, scored 13 touchdowns, and registered 55 tackles.  Additionally, he had four fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles.
