McGill embodies perfect combination for LaSalle recruit (VIDEO)

LaSalle quarterback recently joins RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

For Matthew Mannarino, one place had the right combination and tools that would allow him to excel on and off the field.

Recently, the 6’3, 210 pound pivot from LaSalle, Quebec signed with the McGill Redmen.  Mannarino will join the team for the 2014 RSEQ season.

“I have decided to commit to McGill University because as a student-athlete it allows me the best formula for success scholastically and athletically,” expressed the Montreal quarterback.  “McGill has a great history, which really interested me in wanting to continue to contribute to such a great establishment.”

“Coach (Ron) Hilaire and the coaching staff were amazing from the first meeting. The coaching staff genuinely showed that they care about their players and want to bring McGill back to being the top university in CIS football.  It is an extreme privilege to be joining the McGill Redmen team.”

Mannarino comes to the Redmen after completing a season with the Chateauguay Raiders of the Quebec Junior Football League (QJFL).  He was named the league’s Rookie of the Year after he amassed 2000 passing yards, 200 rushing yards and nine passing touchdowns in eight games.

Previous to the Raiders, the pivot spent a great part of his gridiron career with LaSalle Warriors and played right up until the midget level.

“I am extremely excited for the next chapter in my student-athletic career,” added Mannarino.  “I wish to thank all the coaches for all the hard work and dedication they invested in me to achieve this great opportunity.”

“Go Redmen!”
