Motivational speakers often say, “don’t be afraid to dream big.”

Joshua McBain took that philosophy to heart. He believes in it and puts in the work behind the scenes to make his big dreams come true.

“My main goal for the future is to go to a division-one school in the United States on a scholarship. After that, it will be playing professionally in the NFL. This is a big goal especially being from Canada but I feel I am capable of achieving this goal because of the effort I put into everything in my life,” says McBain.

This summer, “I look forward to getting faster and working more on the running back position,” says McBain.

The young man loves contact, which is one of the reasons he loves playing linebacker.

“I love the feeling of hitting guys and making big hits, which gives the defense and my whole team an edge,” says McBain. However, last fall McBain began playing running back and enjoys it. McBain loves playing running back for a handful of reasons, “I like hearing people in the stands cheer me on as I run in for a touchdown, and I feel in control and I’m a threat to score at any moment,” he said.

This summer, the Mississauga Warriors had a game against the London Mustangs. The Warriors offense had struggled mightily all game long, therefore, the Warriors defense had to elevate their play, if they were to win the game.

“This was a memorable game since we came back, and won by scoring two defensive touchdowns,” says McBain. The Warriors linebacker is proud of how the defense played in that game.

“This was crucial since our offense was not having a good game and were constantly forced to punt, so our defense focused and played with high intensity for us to be able to win that game,” says McBain.

We often hear that football is a young man’s game, but McBain is already approaching the game with a veteran mindset.

“Football means a lot to me. As I have grown older I learned to have a big appreciation for the sport as well as being more focused on what I need to do in order to achieve what I want,” says McBain. But, the journey is only beginning for this young man hungry for success.

“I realize that these next four years are going to be very important to get where I need to be. I will get there by working out in the gym, and studying to get good grades in order to get recognition,” says McBain.
