Max Polischuk Is Well On His Way To Greatness

Before he ever stepped onto a professional football field, Max Polischuk’s favourite pastime was playing catch with his dad. Polischuk would mimic all his favourite receivers as he came down with catch after catch.

“I don’t really know what got me into football. I just know I’ve loved it as long as I can remember. Even before I played in an organized league, I just loved playing catch with my dad or going to games,” says Polischuk

Now, Polischuk has moved past catch in the backyard and instead catches passes under the spotlights for the Sheldon Williams’ Spartans.

Polischuk doubles down as a wide receiver and defensive back for Sheldon Williams but it is clear that receiver is his preferred position. He compares the position to working in a lab as he is continuously required to come up with new solutions for the problems being presented to him by other defensive backs.

“Well as a receiver the best part is being able to be creative and try new things on a constant basis and figuring out what works and what doesn’t, so I can be the most successful. It’s almost like working in the lab.”

While he is incredibly talented, Polischuk is a very quiet and humble player, he prefers to let his production on the field speak for him. The Spartans’ wide receiver also models his game after Julian Edelman for the same reason.

“At wide receiver I believe the best player currently is Julian Edelman, I think this because he really is a hard worker. He isn’t a Ra-Ra guy that likes attention, he just gets the job done when it needs to be done,” says Polischuk.

Polischuk is only focused on getting his job done and this means that he lives a very quiet lifestyle off the field as well. There are no parties, only gym sessions, family time and more gym sessions.

“In the offseason, I would do weights 4 days a week and I would do field sessions 3 days a week, which would allow me to stay in football shape year-round.”

All the hard work from the offseason has paid off as Polischuk has set new personal bests in many workouts. The talented wide receiver now runs a 4.6 40-yard dash as well as a 10’6’’ broad jump. He also never downs any competition as he has also participated in various 7v7 tournaments and even went to Texas with the Saskatchewan Selects.

Polischuk will be spending a lot of time down south as he plans to move to Florida and attend ClearWater Academy for the second half of his junior year and senior year. He is hoping that this opportunity leads him to a division one school once he is finished his senior year.

Polischuk is certainly doing very well for his football career but the receiver is not in the business of very well. He is chasing greatness and being the best at his position and he will not slow down until he gets there.

“I am a level headed individual who is the smart type of player you would want on your team, I believe I am confident in my ability but I also know I have a long way to go because I am chasing greatness and I’m not going to stop until I get it.”
