Mississauga defensive back joins OUA team’s 2016 class

Spencer Agard is hoping to roar at the next stage of his gridiron career.

Recently, the 5’11, 165 pound defensive back from Mississauga, Ontario signed with the York Lions.  Agard will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

Ultimately, there were multiple factors that opted Agard to choose the Lions.

“First off, it’s close to home so I immediately felt at home once I went on my visit,” explained the defensive back of his decision.  “Secondly, I believe in what York is trying to do with their program; they play the best players no matter what which led me to believe there would be more of a chance for me to see playing time.”

“I also know that York will begin to see success soon. And lastly, I feel very close with the players and coaching staff. I went to high school with a few players who are at York and Coach Zak Colangelo is the first scout who approached me and believed in my abilities on and off the field. He first approached me this past summer playing OVFL.”

During the 2015 season with the Mississauga Warriors of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), Agard caught three interceptions, had four batted balls and registered 22 tackles.

In addition to the Warriors, Agard also suited up for the OVFL’s Brampton Bulldogs.
