Local recruit says Gee-Gees “were welcoming”

Ottawa defensive tackle joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

Myron Flowers will be beginning his CIS career in his own backyard.

Recently, the 6’3, 285 pound defensive tackle from Ottawa, Ontario signed with the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Flowers will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

“I committed to uOttawa because history and tradition that comes with the program,” explained the defensive standout of his commitment.  “Starting with Coach [Jamie] Barresi, all the experience he has from the NCAA and CFL shows that he is a dedicated coach and knows his stuff.”

“I also love how serious education is to them. That was really important me and my family when we started the recruitment process.”

From the moment he stepped foot onto the Ottawa, Ontario campus on his official visit, the atmosphere and environment felt right for Flowers.

“I also want to state that I committed to uOttawa because I love how I felt part of a family,” recalled the defensive tackle.  “Soon as I walked in the door, I felt as I’ve been a player there for five years.”

“I loved talking to the whole coaching staff they were all welcoming and great to talk to.”

Flowers, who is a native of Killeen, Texas, completed his career with St. Francis Xavier Coyotes of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA). Additionally, he has suited up for the Gloucester South Raiders of the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).
