Local recruit picks Golden Bears

Offensive lineman joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class.

Alexander Loosemore will be commencing his CIS career in his home province.

Recently, the 6’4, 285 pound defensive lineman signed with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. Loosemore will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

“I committed to the University of Alberta because I love the way Coach [Chris] Morris is turning things around,” explained the offensive lineman.  “Also, I like the idea of how important school is to them.”

Loosemore began his gridiron journey at the atom level in Sarnia, Ontario before moving to Forestburg, Alberta in 2008.  Upon his arrival, the lineman suited up for the Camrose Buffaloes where he played on both the peewee and bantam squads.

After playing a season with the midget Battle River Shock in 2013, Loosemore joined the Camrose Trojans of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). During the 2015 season, the lineman amassed 30 pancake blocks and 58 tackles (including 20 in a single game).

Among the honours Loosemore has received during his career include Central Alberta High School Football League (CAHSFL) Rural Conference Lineman of the Year and a two time recipient of Trojans Lineman of the Year honours (2013, 2014).  Moreover, he was a captain for the Trojans for three consecutive years.
