Local recruit feels McMaster is “best fit”

Mitch Garland found the perfect set of circumstances and decided to seize the opportunity.

Recently, the 5ā€™11, 170 pound defensive back from Hamilton, Ontario committed to McMaster Marauders.Ā  Garland will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

ā€œI committed because I feel like it is the best fit for me and I get the chance to play for my hometown team,ā€ expressed the defensive standout of his decision.Ā  ā€œI am able to stay home and be close to my family and friends.ā€

ā€œAs well, I think McMaster is an amazing place I know that there coaching staff is outstanding and I can learn a lot from them. Also, the support that they give both in academics and athletics is second to none and after talking to current and former player the attitude and atmosphere of the team is amazing and I am so excited to be able to learn from amazing coaches.ā€

This past fall, Garland completed his career with Westdale Warriors of the Hamilton Wentworth Intercollegiate Athletic Association (HWIAA).Ā  In addition to the Warriors, the defensive back has also suited up for the Hamilton Hurricanes of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).
