Local recruit extends family traditon at Queen’s

Kingston wide receiver joins OUA team’s 2015 class.

Queen’s Golden Gaels have announced the addition of Jeremy Pendergast to their football program.

The 6’4 205 pound wide receiver from Kingston, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Among the teams Pendergast has suited up for include Holy Cross Crusaders of the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association (KASSAA) and Limestone Grenadiers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“Jeremy has Queen’s pedigree on several levels being the brother of current Queen’s defensive back Matt Pendergast and the son of ’92 Queen’s Vanier Cup winning quarterback Tim Pendergast and the nephew of former Queen’s tight end Jim Pendergast,” commented Golden Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.  “Jeremy is a very interesting receiver in this year’s recruiting class.”

“He stands 6’4 and weighs in at 205. He is long and lean and he is very athletic. He is widely regarded as the top offensive prospect in the Kingston area this year and played for OVFL’s Limestone Grenadiers. He is a brilliant student at Holy Cross CHS in Kingston who will study Engineering.”

Pendergast has realized a childhood dream with his commitment to the Golden Gaels.

“I chose Queen’s because of its incredible academic and athletic reputation,” explained Pendergast of his decision.  “Growing up in Kingston, Queen’s home games were something to look forward to throughout my childhood.”

“They have longstanding success as a football program, and it has been a long-time dream of mine to play football in tricolour.”
