Local recruit ‘excited’ about UBC competition, quality

Vernon linebacker signs with CWUAA team.

For Karson Patommel, all directions were pointing to one CIS school.

Consequently, the 6’3, 215 pound linebacker from Vernon committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds.Β  Patommel will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

β€œSome of my main reasons for choosing UBC are how close it is to home being a BC boy myself,” explained Patommel of his commitment.Β  β€œI am also really excited about the new coaching with Blake Nill; I met him during my visit to the campus and I really like the way he operates.”

β€œI can tell he has a no “BS” mentality and he wants all his players doing everything at their best. I can tell it’s going to be a lot more difficult playing under Coach Nill than it was in high school and I’m excited for the challenge and opportunity. The campus at UBC is very beautiful and I now my education will be a solid one.”
