Lions win one lose one


Tyler Varga bounced back from a second quarter injury to lead the Cambridge jr. Lions to a 31-21 victory over the Niagara Spears at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Sunday.

Varga had already run for three touchdowns when he was injured with less than a minute in the first half of the

Adams Conference Final. With Varga out, Jordan Kerr took over the running game.
An Eric Hewitson field goal had the Lions out front 24-14 before Niagara replied with a touchdown. With three minutes left in the final quarter, the Lions were ahead by three. Tyler Varga then took control with a touchdown run from the Lions 44 yard line, giving the Lions all the points they would need.

The 9-1 Lions travel to Ottawa for the championship game against the 9-2 Brampton Bulldogs, who sneaked past the Toronto Thunder 33-31 in the

Wettges Conference Final.
In other Varsity football action, Cambridge’s peewee Lions finished their season with a 15-9 loss to the Niagara Spears.

The peewee Lions finish their campaign with a 7-3 record and an appearance in the Adams Conference Final.
