Lions show efficient offence in victory

Burlington, ON – The visitors from Cambridge displayed accuracy and precision when dissecting the home team, halton cowboys, defense on sunday afternoon. The lions capitalized on early cowboy turnovers deep in the home teams end.

The first play from scrimmage the cowboys fumbled a shot gun snap that Lion #52, Drew Walden picked up on the oppositions 20 yard line. Four plays later the Lions #24, Carlton Smith, rushed the ball in from the 2 yard line (convert no good).

The Lions next 2 scores were also capitalizing on turnovers by the cowboys. The first touchdown was when QB #7, Austin Gordon, hooked up with REC #80, Simon Beeksma on a play action pass play. The second TD was scored by #81, Thomas O’Leary on a four yard run (#77, Zachary Sauer converted both touchdowns…the second was a result of his own fumble recovery).

There were three spectacular touchdowns during the contest that should be noted:
1) Lions, #82, Brad Vince made a great catch in traffic then ran the ball for a 60 yard pass and run TD
2) Cowboys, #34, ran for a spectacular 80 yard run
3) Lions, #24, Carlton Smith had a great run in the second half for 85 yards and a touchdown

Final score 69 to 6
