Saints’ standout unsure about his future

Deciding whether or not you’re going to continue on in football is a big decision and Alex Yuill of the St. Joseph Saints (Alberta School Athletics Association) is in that precarious position of figuring out where his future lies.

The young football player has only played for one team, his high school team. While he is graduating this year, he isn’t sure if he is going to continue on with football.

“It has been an amazing experience,” Yuill said of the recruiting process. “Unfortunately, I don’t have any plans to play football in the future.” He added that he plans on becoming a carpenter.

While football may be on the backburner as of late, Yuill still has fond memories of his time out on the field. He said that the highlight of last season was losing to the Leduc Tigers in the semi-finals. “We put up more points against Leduc than any other team could,” he said.

Although Yuill may not be continuing on with the sport, he said he draws inspiration from his grandfather. “He’s the reason I started watching football,” he said.
