Leo Hayes K/P standout joins StFX X-Men

X-Men bring in out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

Alex Brown, a kicker from Leo Hayes High School, knew there was something special with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men from the very beginning.

It didn’t take long for Brown to realize that his future lies with the X-Men. “Everyone I spoke to had positive things to say about the school. After speaking to the coach and meeting the players, I immediately knew I wanted to be part of the X-men family,” he said.

Brown, who added that he chose the school for its great football and education programs, spoke with the team’s head coach and recruiter on multiple occasions. “I enjoyed how enthusiastic and dedicated they were towards the football program. The team has had a lot of success lately and I think the culture and leadership the coaches bring is a large reason why,” he said.

The 6’0, 182lbs kicker and punter also noted that it was important that the special teams coordinator was a former CFL special teams coach. The product of Fredericton, New Brunswick, will be studying at the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and specializing in Management and Leadership.

In his eight-year career, Brown has played for the junior varsity and varsity editions of the Leo Hayes Lions (New Brunswick High School Football League) and for Team New Brunswick. In 2014, he won a provincial championship with the JV Lions. He was named as the special teams player of the year and was a conference all-star. In 2015 and 2016, he won back-to-back special teams player of the year awards with the Varsity Lions. In 2016, he was a conference all-star.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
