Chris has been playing for seven years for both the Jacob Hespeler Hawks of the Waterloo County Secondary School Athletic Association (WCSSAA) and Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
His accomplishments include numerous Hawks Defensive MVP honours.
Chris says his mother has been the most influential in his life. Β However, Mark Hatt, who was a beloved teacher and coach at Jacob Hespeler that recently passed away had the most profoundest effect in his gridirion career.
“He was such an amazing person mostly in football,” adds Chris. Β “His virtues, his morals, everything were so inspirational.”
“He’s a hard guy not to like. Since his passing I’ve personally dedicated all my games in his honour.”
During the offseason, Chris says he spends at least three days a week training because of the passion he has for the sport.
“I’m a very simple person,” says the Hawks standout. Β “I like the game, my friends, family and everyone special in my life.”
“This game is so special to me because my life is shaped by it.”
The linebacker is considering some OUA schools including Waterloo, Guelph and Wifrid Laurier. Β However, he plans to do a fifth year of high school after he graduates next year.
“I plan to talk to more coaches and attend more camps at universities to keep my name out there,” he adds about the recruitment process.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
