Ontario defensive back newest recruit to join AUS team’s 2014 class.

Having the opportunity to show how much of an impact he could potentially be on the field was important to Brady Lavigne.

In future years, he hopes to be able to showcase those talents in front of the Antigonish crowd.  The 6’0, 170 pound defensive back from Ottawa, Ontario signed this past week with St. Francis Xavier X-Men for the 2014 AUS season.

Furthermore, he is looking forward to making the move to the East Coast for his CIS career.

“I chose ST.FX because I like the idea of going to school on the east coast,” explained Lavigne.  “ST.FX has a good program and at my position, I hope to be getting some playing time and showing what I can do.”

“Also Coach Gord (Gallimore) is a proven Defensive Back Coach and I am excited to work with him I imagine I can learn a ton.”

The defensive standout recently completed his high school career with the Lo-Ellen Park Knights of the Sudbury District Secondary School Athletic Association (SDSSAA).  Additionally, he suited up for the Sudbury Gladiators of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

The X-Men are thrilled to have Lavigne as one of the newest members of the team.

“Brady is a solid athlete with good skill sets as a defensive back and returner,” commented X-Men Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Gord Gallimore.  “He has fluid hips and he is known to be a hitter which will prove to be effective against the receivers of this conference.”

“We look for him to push for a spot early in his career. His relationship with our current player Jacob Czaja should make for a smooth transition at X. We are extremely happy to have Brady a part of the X-Family.”
