Lancers welcome 2 CFC100s, 2 others

Lancers add one local commit, two CFC100s and one out-of-province commit to their team.

Jackson Rountree, a defensive back from Chatham-Kent Secondary School, is a dutiful student of the game and he is excited to learn all he can from the coaches of the University of Windsor Lancers.

CFC100 Braeden Hutchinson, a running back from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, CFC100 Weston Simpson, a linebacker from W.F. Herman Academy, and Shawn Lal, a quarterback from the Langley Rams (CJFL), will also be joining the Lancers.

Jackson Rountree

By Dean Creechan.

When he begins his university career, Jackson Rountree won’t be too far from his home in Chatham, Ontario. “I chose to commit to this school because it is close to home and I love the campus,” he said. “The school is great, and I love football. The opportunity to play while also getting a university education has always been a dream of mine.”

Rountree will be looking to further grow under the tutelage of the coaches. “The coaching staff seems really great,” he said. “They care about the ‘student’ part of a student-athlete.”

Rountree joined the Chatham-Kent Cougars at eight years old. When he turned 14, he joined the CKSS Golden Hawks (LKSSAA). He will be playing with the Cougars’ travel team this summer. In grade nine he won a LKSAA with the Golden Hawks. He also won a coaches’ choice award in grade 12.

“I’m just so thankful that my dad has been so involved with my football. He was the one that signed me up for football and was the head coach for my first five years of football teaching me all of the fundamentals and tackling,” Rountree said of his football origins.

Always a student, Rountree added that, “Between my dad and all of my high school coaches, I have really learned a lot about football, and I hope to learn so much more in university.”

CFC100 Braeden Hutchinson

Braeden Hutchinson calls Surrey, BC, home. The 6’0, 170lbs running back and outside linebacker played with the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (BCSSFA).

CFC100 Weston Simpson

Weston Simpson is from Windsor, Ontario, where he played with the W.F. Herman Green Griffins (WECSSAA). Standing at 6’0, 185lbs, he was named to the CFC all-Canadian 2nd-team.

Shawn Lal

Shawn Lal played with the W.J. Mouat Secondary School Hawks (BCSSFA) and the Langley Stampeders (VMFL) before joining the Langley Rams. He is 6’5, 190lbs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
