Lancers showed they’d ‘take care of me,’ says commit

Lancers bring in a local commit as their first in the Class of 2018.

Craig Barr, a left tackle form Belle River High School, has felt nothing but flattered by the effort his new team, the Windsor Lancers, have put into recruiting him.

ā€œThe school invited me to a lot of events to show me that they wanted me and that they were going to take care of me,ā€ Barr said. Hailing from Belle River, Ontario, he added that the school is very close, so he doesnā€™t have to move.

Standing at a towering 6ā€™7, 255lbs, Barr said that while the Lancers coaches are ā€œvery strict,ā€ they also ā€œcreate very useful and memorable bonds that appeal to most players.ā€

Interested in business and accounting, Barr was also impressed that the school ā€œexcels in the field I wish to pursue.ā€

The four-year veteran has played with the Belle River Nobles (Winsor-Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association) and the Essex Ravens (OFA). In 2016, he was a WECCSSA junior football silver medalist. Throughout high school, he said that he kept up in his studies to maintain a high average.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
