Lady Glads now 2-2 after beating Halifax

Capital Area Lady Gladiators got a pair of rushing touchdowns courtesy of Natasha Canning en route defeating Halifax Xplosion 25-7 in Maritimne senior women’s football league action Saturday at Leo Hayes field.

Canning’s first score covered some 25 yards with her second coming in the fourth quarter on a play covering some 70 yards. Janelle Brien had the other Lady Gladiators’ score, hauling in a five-yard scoring pass from Sarah Banks. Brien also had two converts and a field goal. Scoring for Halifax was Jessica Rose on an eight-yard run capping off a long drive early in the second quarter. Lady Glads led 14-7 at the half. Next up is a game in Saint John July 10.

Gladiators drop to 0-4 after loss to Knights

Dartmouth Knights scored five touchdowns set up by turnovers including four on interceptions and another on a block punt in a 44-0 rout against the Capital Area Gladiators in Maritime senior men’s football league action played in Dartmouth Saturday. The loss dropped the Glads to 0-4 on the season. Next up is a July 10 game in Charlottetown against the PEI Privateers. Next home game is Saturday, July 17 against the Halifax Shockers.
