Like any position in football, you are not guaranteed a thing. Alan Penverne, a kicker from Cégep de Thetford, wouldn’t have it any other way when he joins the University of Montréal Carabins.

“I chose to commit to the Carabins because of the battles for the positions, which in my mind, is the best way to progress and give my best,” Penverne said. “Also, the team spirit and the connection between coaches and players shows me that it is more than just a football team.”

The 6’3, 240lbs kicker and punter is originally from Rouen, France. He spent four years playing with Les Leopards de Rouen before taking his career across the Atlantic. While in Québec, he played three seasons with Les Filons du Cégep de Thetford-Mines (RSEQ Division 2). In 2015, he and his team captured a Division 3 Bol d’Or.

Interested in taking nursing sciences, Penverne will have to balance a heavy course load with football. But, he will have some help. “The coaching staff is really concerned about the success of their student-athletes and their development, whether at school or on the field,” he said. “They look really close to their players. I’m really happy to join them.”

(Translation: Congratulations to the kicker, Alan Penverne. Proud to officially announce my commitment with the Carabins for the 2018 season.)

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
