K Garcia improves the long ball (VIDEO)

Football wasn’t the sport of choice for Sisler’s kicker, but Ronaldo Garcia has enjoyed every minute of his time on the football field.

Ronaldo Garcia has made an impact during his brief time on the gridiron with the Sisler Spartans (Winnipeg High School Football League). Garcia joined the Spartans as a kicker two seasons ago because he thought the sport was fun, and wanted to help his friends out. The young Jamaican has achieved the Special Teams Player award from Sisler High School.

The highlight of Ronaldo’s season last year was being consistent in field goals.

When he’s looking for influence, Ronaldo finds support in his mom. In football, the most influential person to the young kicker has been coach of the Spartans, Sean Esselmont.

At the moment Ronaldo is working on long field goals, but doesn’t have any recruiting plans as of yet. In terms of how he thinks he’ll handle the next level, the young Spartan said, β€œIt will not be that hard.”

Football isn’t the first sport that Ronaldo Garcia has joined. Soccer is Ronaldo’s original sport, but likes his options now that he can play football. Ronaldo explained, β€œFootball wasn’t my first sport so it’s another opportunity to try and make it to the pro level.” If it wasn’t for football, Garcia would still be on the soccer pitch.

Sisler’s kicker has a couple of different reasons why he chose the position. β€œI like that I don’t get hit and people think kickers can’t tackle anyone,” mentioned Garcia

Garcia models his game after the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks’ kicker, Steven Hauschka.

When he’s done with football, Ronaldo’s plans are to become a carpenter.

In order to improve his game and be next level ready, Garcia is going to improve on kickoff and getting the distance on the kicks and long field goals.
