JV Sabres win 38-13

Game Recap: Jamie Peter

The JV Sabres headed into half time with a 7-7 tie but ultimately pulled away with a convincing 38-13 win improving their record to 1-0-1. It was a complete team effort with all 3 phases chipping in for key plays.

Newcomer Rylan Penner connected on 5 of 5 converts and booted a 21 yard field goal.

Offensively QB Austin Durksen connected on 2 TD passes a 21 yard TD reception with Tyson Greenham and a 40 yard catch and run by Mason Hartung. Jaxon Gruninger added 2 rushing TD’s and a plus 100 yard game on the ground. Kudos to the offensive line who didn’t yield a sack and paved the way on the ground.

Defensively the Sabres were suffocating forcing turnovers and negative plays. Caelan Poetker was a constant force yielding 2 tackles for loss, Alex Kornelson lead the team in tackles and added 1 QB Sack, Jayden Vogt and Jedrick Fransico also added a sack each. Bryson Friesen had an interception and Ryan Kincaid got himself a pick 6 for the defensive score.

The JV Sabres will host the Grant Park Pirates next Wednesday Sept. 19 5 pm @ AD Penner Park.
