Anderson, a member of the New Brunswick Football Officials’ Association, received the prestigious award at the CFOA biennial conference hosted by the Manitoba Football Officials’ Association in Winnipeg on the weekend.

Anderson is the first person from the Atlantic provinces to win the award since Bill Glendenning of Moncton in 1988.

Anderson played three years of high school football with the Moncton High Purple Knights where he was and “all-conference” offensive lineman.

Upon graduation, Anderson joined the Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF) and upon his discharge joined the staff of Air Canada for some 35 years of service.

He retired in 2001.

He served as a coach in the Moncton Football Association’s minor program for three years as well as being an active fundraiser for the association for some 25 years during which time he was an “onfield” official.

As a result of this service, Anderson was made an honourary life member of the MFA.

In 1991, Football New Brunswick honoured jack with a Lifetime Service Award for 25 plus years of service to football in the province. After recovering from a heart attack in 2001, Anderson has continued to contribute to officiating in the Atlantic region.

He still maintains a positive presence through “on field” work, to a lesser degree than in previous years, and continues to donate much valuable time to the NBFOA as an instructor, evaluator and mentor to fellow officials.

Throughout the years, Anderson has been assigned to numerous playoff games at all levels of amateur play in Canada including Atlantic University Sport, high school, Uteck Bowls and three Vanier Cup
