York defensive end commits to OUA team

After landing a CEGEP recruit in recent days, the York Lions have found their second recruit of their 2014 class.

Trey Cordle will join the Lions for the 2014 OUA season. There were several key factors which influenced his decision to sign with the team.

“The coaching staff is unbelievable and tops in the OUA,” explained Cordle.  “I think the Lions are building an elite team that will be a playoff contender.”

“I also committed to York because I feel that my talents will assist an already amazing defensive program. York is also my hometown and I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to represent the city.”

The 6’5, 260 pound defensive end from York, Ontario has played high school football for Resurrection Phoenix of the Waterloo County Secondary School Athletic Association (WCSSAA).  Last season (2012), he registered 31 solo tackles, four forced fumbles six solo sacks, five batted ball and a 35 yard fumble recovery touchdown.

There are some individuals that Cordle wanted to acknowledge for getting him to this point today.

“I would like to also thank my family, friends and coaches for pushing me to where I need to be today,” added the Ontario defensive end.

Overall, Cordle is looking forward to contributing to his new CIS team.

“I’m very ecstatic about joining the York Lions, the establishment here at York is incredible,” expressed Cordle.   “I am very excited to see what next year brings me and I can’t wait for it to start.”
