Burlington offensive tackle to continue next gridiron chapter with OUA team.

Feeling a sense of belonging is a great thing.

So much so, that Duncan Curren decided the Guelph Gryphons was the place where he could flourish and grow as a football player.  On Wednesday, the 6’3, 280 pound offensive tackle from Burlington, Ontario committed to the team.

Curren will join the Gryphons for the 2014 OUA season.

“I really enjoy the city of Guelph – how it’s fairly small and how it’s a true university town,” explained the Ontario offensive tackle of his commitment.  “Also, I really enjoyed the sounds of their business program there as it is on the rise.”

“Football wise, I chose Guelph because of their amazing coaching staff, Coach Mike McDonald(offensive line) and (Head Coach) Stu Lang have been very supportive in my recruiting process and they made me feel like I was already family there. Also, working with Coach (Bill) Brown (special forces) with Team Ontario really helped me grasp what type of practice they run.  I really liked their strength and conditioning program and facilities they have – basically being run by SST, should help me become a better player.”

Currently, the Ontario offensive tackle for his high school team, Nelson Lords of the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA).  Additionally, he has suited up for the Burlington Stampeders of the Ontario Football Conference.  This past July, Curren represented his home province as a member of Team Ontario at the 2013 Football Canada Cup in Moncton, New Brunswick.
