Next week in Saskatoon 4A…

Tommy Douglas takes on Bethlehem Friday night, 5:15 at SMF Field. These two ball clubs think all summer about this game. Physically attached schools, their rivalry is natural. It’ll be intense and it’ll be good football.

It’s the battle of the Marauders, Thursday afternoon in Saskatoon. Walter Murray will look to jump out to a 2-o start against a PA St. Mary team that put up a strong fight against Aden Bowman in Week 1. St. Mary’s will need to lockdown WR Adam Labrash in order to give themselves a chance in this one.

Saskatoon 3A

Bishop James Mahoney Saints (38), Warman Wolverines (0)

Warman got the call up to 12 man football in 2017 after back to back nine man provincial titles, and got a rude welcoming. Bishop James Mahoney, the reigning 3A provincial champions let the Wolverines know that their jump to a new conference won’t come easy. Running back Boston Davidsen found the end zone twice, and finished with 124 yards on the ground.

North Battleford Vikings (56), Evan Hardy Souls (20)

Evan Hardy’s new coaching regiment was unable to pull out the victory in their first regular season. The young team struggled against the Vikings who have the talent to be a legitimate threat to win it all. RB JT Lamb is one of the best at his position in the province, and he showcased his talents all night. The stud runner finished the game with 188 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns for the Vikings.

Next week in Saskatoon 3A…

It’s Welcome Week in Saskatoon and that means rivalry games. In 3A, its the perennial powerhouses in the Bridge City battling it out in the War on Lenore. Bishop James Mahoney takes on Marion Graham, Friday night under the lights, can we ask for anything more?

Regina Schwaan Conference (4A)

Miller Marauders (31), Riffel Royals (21)

In 2016 Miller was victorious in the Stewart Conference, becoming a city champion. Since then, they’ve been promoted to the Shwaan Conference, and are a contender once again. Miller is loaded with athletes and shocked last seasons 4A city finalist, the Riffel Royals in this seasons opening game. Defensive backs Carson and Jackson Sombach had 15 tackles between the two brothers, to go along with a fumble recovery and interception.

Next week in the Schwaan Conference…

Winston Knoll takes on O’Neill in Schwaan action, Thursday at 5:15 at Leibel Field. The Wolverines are fresh off a strong performance against #CFC50 Leboluds. They’ll look to carry that momentum over to this game in a battle of two 0-1 teams.

Balfour Bears (47), Johnson Wildcats (23)

Noah Pelletier found the end zone four times for the Bears, to go along with 140 yards on the air. The Bears got the opening night they hoped for, as they’ll look to improve on last seasons disappointing finish where they failed to make it past the quarterfinals.

Notre Dame Hounds (34), Luther Lions (14)

The Hounds were too much to handle on Friday night as they took it to the Lions in a tight game between two evenly matched teams. Running back Ethan Mattern ran the ball well for the Hounds, finishing with 73 yards on 14 carries.

Thom Trojans (27), Sheldon Williams Spartans (25)

Thom opened their 2017 campaign with a quality win over the Spartans in what will go down as an upset. Sheldon Williams began their season with plans to get back to the Stewart Conference City Final, where they came up just short in 2016. Mason Novik carried the Spartans with 12 tackles and hell look to lead them back into the win column in week 2 against Martin.

Next week in the Stewart Conference..

All eyes will be on Balfour as they battle Greenall on Thursday at New Mosaic, 5:30 kickoff. The Bears and Griffins each won in week one and are expected to be two of Stewart’s finest. Don’t be surprised to see a rematch of this affair come playoff time.

Sheldon Williams will chase their first win on the board against Martin, who will look to rebound after a disappointing drubbing at the hands of Greenall last week. Gametime 5:30, Leibel Field.

Friday Night Lights at New Mosaic Stadium, Luther takes on Johnson at 7:30pm in a battle between two winless squads. One will come out on top, expect a hard fought game in one you know these kids are going to be jacked up for.

Meanwhile, at Leibel Field, Thom takes on Notre Dame. Both teams were surprise victors in week one, and one will remain undefeated. 7:30 kickoff.
