Cochrane (28), Vernon [BC] (24)
The leading player in the tier 3 division in Alberta, Cochrane, came away with the win over Vernon on Thursday in non-conference play.
With two back-to-back touchdowns for the Cobras, they led 21-17 at the half. Vernon answered back in the fourth quarter bringing the score to 24-21. It wasn’t enough though, as Cochrane answered back with the winning touchdown as Vernon could not score in a last ditch effort at the end of the quarter.
Vernon’s Ben Hladik had another solid performance on both sides of the ball as he had 135 yards receiving with 1 TD. He also made his mark on defense where he had 4 solos and 1 pick. Teammate, Charles Lemay, also turned in a solid two-way performance as he churned out 98 yards on 20 carries, scoring 2 TD, and also registered 5 solos.
That all being said, Cochrane came away with this one 28-24.
