Hamilton Wentworth Panthers take two of three games


The Hamilton Wentworth Panthers Junior and Senior Varsity teams played their season openers on Sunday (May 29) in Toronto, taking on the Jr. Argos in Ontario Football Conference play.

The Pantherā€™s Senior squad was impressive in a 35-7 victory while the Junior Panthers lost a heartbreaker, 39-31. And the Pantherā€™s Bantam Varsity team played its second road game and improved their record to 2-0 with a 48-8 victory over the Clarington Knights.

The Panthers home openers will be this weekend when cross-bay rivals, the Burlington Stampeders gallop into town. The Senior Panthers game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Ivor Wynne Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by Cable 14.

The Bantam and Junior varsity games will be played at MacRae Fields at the Beverley Community Centre. The Bantams kick off at 2 p.m. and the Juniors follow at 5:30. Both games will be taped and broadcast by Cable 14
