Hamilton recruit hopes to extend Mounties’ success (VIDEO)

Hamilton DL joins AUS Conference Champions’ 2015 class

Jacob Mattiuz will be commencing his CIS career in the Maritimes.

Recently, the 6’3, 260 pound defensive lineman (tackle) from Hamilton, Ontario committed to Mount Allison Mounties.  Mattiuz will join the AUS Conference Champions for the 2015 season.

There were several reasons why the defensive lineman chose the Sackville, New Brunswick campus.

“Not only would I be playing for the best team in the CIS, but I would be getting the best education from the number one undergraduate university in Canada,” explained Mattiuz of his decision.  “The coaches and players were all very welcoming and made me feel like part of the family.”

“Also I knew by signing here, I was going to learn from the best coaches in Canada and be able to develop my game. The team has won the Loney Bowl Title back to back and I hope to come in and help contribute to a third consecutive championship!”

The defensive lineman comes to the Mounties after playing for both the Sherwood Saints of the Hamilton Wentworth Intercollegiate Athletic Association (HWIAA) and the Hamilton Ironmen of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
