Hamilton recruit has Vanier dreams with Golden Gaels (VIDEO)

Hamilton receiver newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

For Marco Aref, his bond with an OUA team’s coaching staff was the determining factor in where he wants to continue his gridiron career an academic pursuits.

Recently, the 5’11, 185 pound receiver from Hamilton, Ontario committed to Queen’s Golden Gaels. Aref will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

“Me and the coaches have had a strong relationship over the last year,” said Aref of his commitment.  “We first started talking at the end of my grade 11 season at Bishop Tonnos and have built a great relationship.”

“But the major factor that made me commit to Queens was when Coach Ryan Sheahan [Golden Gaels Offensive Coordinator] coached me this past summer.  I really enjoyed having him as a coach and I felt that he got the best out of me and I felt we really clicked. We were able to win a National Championship together and that’s what I plan to do at Queen’s – win a Vanier.  The program is great me and my family really loved how professional the coaches were and how well we were treated.  Queen’s felt like home to me and I knew that it was going to be the program to bring me to the next level.”

Aref recently played for the Bishop Tonnos Titans of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic Athletic Association (HWCAA).  He was Offensive MVP this year after leading the Titans in touchdowns and all-purpose yards.
