HAMILTON IRONMEN

BANTAM

The Bantam Ironmen notched their first win of the season with a 20-0 decision over Etobicoke as a result of the Eagles not having the required number of players to play the contest.  Both teams are at the back of the Adams Conference standings at 1-6 with this result.

HAMILTON VARSITY TIGER CATS

OFC BANTAM SOUTH

Cats sit atop the South Division after a 42-7 win in London over Forest City.  Brayden Kelly crossed the goal line twice for Hamilton with single scores to Brock Procee Goeree, Owen Vernon, Quinn McGregor and Jesse King.  Sebastien Mella added 6 converts while Thunderbirds lone score came from Nathan Uytterlinde that was converted by Tyler Putherbough Ray.  The win and Burlington Stampeders tie at Chatham Kent see the Cats currently in first in the South Division at 7-0 while Forest City dropped to 2-4.

OFC BANTAM NORTH

Hamilton improved to 4-2 after downing the North Halton Crimson Tide 31-8 in Georgetown.  Mark Skerl led the winners with 2 majors and a field goal.  Jack Mazur scored a touchdown and 2 point convert while Jeremy Hicks added a major and Tristan Fair booted a field goal and convert.  Owen Franco had the lone Tide major with Michael Leduc adding the 2 point convert.  North Halton dropped to 2-4 with the setback.

OMFL

The Junior Varsity squad earned their 2nd win of the season downing Cambridge 41-19.  The story was not the same for the Bantam unit as they were defeated 41-8 by the Clarington Knights.  Game details are not available.

 

Three of four Hamilton OFC squads will be looking to solidify their playoff positions as showdowns are upcoming  with the Burlington Stampeders on July 17th.  The battle for first in Bantam South starts things off at 10:00 am, followed by Junior Varsity kick off at 2:30 pm and the Varsity return match at 5:30 pm.  These games will be played at Nelson HS.  The Bantam North squad will have their first place showdown vs. Vaughan Rebels at York University on the 17th kicking off at 7:30 pm.  Vaughan sits atop the Bantam North at 5-1 while Hamilton is at 4-2.

The OMFL teams conclude their 2016 regular season at St. Jean de Brebeuf CSS on July 16th.  Bantam will host North Bay Bulldogs at 1:00 pm followed by Junior Varsity versus Tottenham Express at 4:00 pm.  Neither OMFL squad will qualify for the post season.

BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS

BANTAM

A rare 16-16 tie at Chatham Kent dropped the Stamps into 2nd place in the South Division.  Keegan Hall and Sito Tomas Berrio scored majors for the Stampeders with Ved Hatolkar adding a convert and a field goal.  Darion Bacik Haddon led Cougars with a touchdown and 2 point convert run.  Nakoma Scott had the other Cougars major while Quinton Emerick added a convert and a rouge.  The tie moves Stamps to 6-0-1 while Cougars are 4-1-1.

PEE WEE

Stamps contest at Vaughan was not played due to issues over roster compliment and recent rule changes.  The OFC Executive are reviewing this situation.

 

All four Stamps squads will host their regular season finales at Nelson High School on July 17th.  The showdown for 1st place in the Bantam South vs. Hamilton South starts things off at 10:00 am.  The Pee Wee Stamps look to move up the standings table as they host the Sarnia Sturgeon at 12:30 pm.  Junior Varsity host Hamilton at 2:30 pm in a tilt that should decide top spot in the South which is followed by the Varsity rematch vs. Hamilton at 5:30 pm.
